There’s no necessarily a lot of suspects, but everyone’s got a different story and someone is definitely lying. What’s interesting about this story is the multiple running threads and different cases overlapping each other. But it puts Pari, Chuck, (and to a lesser degree, their boyfriend in their polyam relation Nels) at the center of an investigation. He’s missing and had been missing for days, and nobody is any the wiser to where he is. It’s unforgivable what he did and the story is that he’s trying to turn that around and atone for his sins. What’s challenging about this case is that the boss, Shepard, used to run a conversion camp and in the process, messed up A LOT of teens. Her girlfriend, Chuck, works at a LGBTQ youth center and is worried their boss went missing. To put it mildly.īut now, North and Shaw are still keeping their secrets close to their chests and they have a case brought to them by their assistant Pari. And what we learned about Tucker in the last book is that he’s a real piece of work. The kicker was the fact that North is now married to someone they knew in college – Tucker. It’s no surprise that Gregory Ashe is writing a series with a slooooooow burn romance, and North and Shaw have been circling each other for YEARS.
